Sanctioning Roping’s

Primarily sanctioning:

If you choose to primarily sanction a roping through the Ladies Breakaway Roping Association each competitor must have a membership for insurance purposes.  Every roping then counts towards our finals along with the high point.

Hosting a co-approval:

If you choose to host a co-approval roping, you must provide your own insurance and send the insurance document in with your co-approval form.  A $2.00 finals surcharge will be charged to all members of the LBRAOBC whether they plan to attend the finals or not.  Points are also accumulated at these events which will go towards our high point saddle for members of the association.

  3. The catch pen must be open and there will be a 30 second time limit.
  4. Any calf to break the plain of the out gate before the rope has broken away, will be flagged out and the contestant will receive a no-time. The line will be an imaginary plane between the gateposts.
  5. One loop is permitted and may only be thrown once. No loop is to be rebuilt.
  6. The rope must be attached to the saddle horn in such a manner as to allow the rope to be released from the horn when the calf hits the end of the rope. This is the contestant’s responsibility.
  7. Ladies Breakaway is bell-collar catch only. A legal bell-collar catch, also known as a neck catch, is defined as any loop passing over the calf’s head and slack is drawn around neck only. No other appendages of calf (i.e. front leg, tail, etc.) can be in loop when rope breaks from saddle horn.
  8. Rope must be released from contestant’s hand to be considered a legal catch.
  9. Horn length on calves to be a maximum of four inches (4”).
  10. The calf must break the rope away from the horn. Contestant will receive a no-time should they break the rope away from the saddle horn by hand. However, if the rope should dally around the horn, the contestant may ride forward, un-dally the rope and then stop their horse to make the rope break free.
  11. It is at the judges’ discretion to give a rerun.
  12. The field judge will flag the contestant when the rope breaks away from the saddle horn.
  13. Calves will be a chute run. Contestants must rope in drawn order.
  14. Each contestant should follow their calf out of the arena.
  15. Contestants’ calf will be turned out if contestant does not enter the box by third call. This will result in a no-time. Producers may allow ropers more time at their discretion.
  16. Number of times you may enter is up to the producer.
  17. A fenced alleyway is recommended but not mandatory. It is also recommended that if there is no fence that horses are not to line out cattle. This is up to the producer.
  18. Producer may choose how to run their roping as long as it is stated before the roping starts and is approved by the board.
  19. Roping approvals must come to the board one week prior to event. Producers may co- sanction with other events. If co-sanctioned the Ladies Breakaway Roping Association of BC may ask for proof of insurance from the primary sanctioned body.
  20. If an event is co sanctioned only members are required to pay the additional $2.00 fee per entry. This will count towards the finals as well as towards the high point.
  21. A $2 fee will be charged per entry and paid to the association.
  22. Entry fees are determined by event producer.
  23. Stock fee is determined by producers. Maximum stock charge suggested is 33%. Stock charge % must be posted prior to the roping.
